Kittens by the week
One Day Old
Newborn kittens are typically born weighing between 70 and 100 grams. They are weighed daily to ensure an increase of at least 10 grams per day.
One Week Old
One week old kittens are slightly more fluffy and hold their heads up for longer periods of time.
2 Weeks Old
At two weeks most will have their eyes opened and they will scoot around the nest.
3 Weeks Old
At 3 weeks they are starting to walk on their feet, but are still pretty wobbly.
4 Weeks Old
At 4 weeks old, they start to explore outside of the nest and start to play with each other. Litter training starts at this age.
5 Weeks Old
At 5 weeks they will be more playful and start to show an interest in their humans. Wet food will be introduced at this age.
6 Weeks Old
At six weeks old they really start to get playful, not just with each other but with humans and toys as well. Typically they are all fully litter trained by this time.
8 Weeks Old
At 8 weeks they have their first vet visit for a wellness check, first vaccine and get microchipped.
11-13 Weeks Old
Between these weeks kittens are full of personality and energy. They are spayed and neutered at 12 weeks old and receive their second round of vaccines. Kittens go home when they are 13 weeks old to ensure proper healing of their incisions.
